All healthcare systems rely on improved patient outcomes. We specialise at evaluating interventions in a real-world situation to identify their impact on patient care. Our research team is interested in whether interventions improve patient outcomes while conserving resources.
Observational studies generate data that allow the team at Sierra North to measure the effectiveness of an intervention, the long term positive and negative outcomes of an intervention and to generate resource use, cost and utility data. Some of the common observational studies include Cohort studies, Case-control studies and Cross-sectional studies, however the team at Sierra North have the capabilities of carrying out alternative methods.
Observational Studies
We are able to negotiate access to a comprehensive range of commercial and payer datasets which allow the team to observe the effect of a risk factor, diagnostic test, treatment or other intervention without trying to change who is or isn’t exposed to it.
At Sierra North we observe and measure variables of interest and look for relationships between them. The team at Sierra North conduct observational studies when it is difficult, impossible, or unethical to assign study participants to the experimental groups randomly.
How We Can Help
At Sierra North our main aim is to add value through collaboration, in our multi-disciplinary team environment, our clients benefit from the collaborative and complementary services provided by our health economic team and our range of connections within the field.
By adopting a collaborative approach, it allows the team at Sierra North to get a better understanding of the challenges our clients face and results in the client gaining a better understanding of the complex data gathered from the range of observational studies.
